遣吾魂魄去幽冥，今世来生辨本形。
魂魄顷时还报我：“茫茫上下独伶俜”。
注：○魂魄：《左传·昭公七年》：“匹夫匹妇强死，其魂魄犹能冯依于人，以为淫厉。”幽冥：《文选·曹植王仲宣诔》：“嗟乎夫子，永安幽冥。”吕向注：“幽冥，地下也。”○伶俜：孤零貌。杜甫《新安吏》：“肥男有母送，瘦男独伶俜。”原文云：“吾身即天堂与地狱也。”译文变化言之。
I sent my Soul through the Invisible,
Some letter of that After-life to spell:
And by and by my Soul return'd to me,
