上者苍苍是一穹，茫然下覆作樊笼。
我来生死因休问，天自回旋势所同。
注：○上者二句：《乐府诗集·杂歌谣辞·敕勒歌》：“天似穹庐，笼盖四野。”穹，隆起貌，故以译覆盌。○我来二句：原文云：“毋举手呼其助也，彼之无能一如吾汝。”译文益以苍茫之致耳。
And that inverted Bowl they call the Sky,
Whereunder crawling coop'd we live and die,
Lift not your hands to It for help——for It
As impotently moves as you or I.
